Cat Fans Can Now Pounce on
PDQ Press 2005 Cat Calendar
DALLAS, TEXAS – October 21, 2004 – Dallas-based PDQ Press, in business since 1978, recently released its annual calendar featuring well-known artwork – enhanced by cats. As has been the case for 15 years, the cats on the cover will be the PDQ resident cats.
The calendars have been produced since the press’ first year in operation and have been a tradition ever since. Last year’s calendar featured a version of the Frida Kahlo painting Self Portrait with Bonito – with WYSIWYG the cat posing as Kahlo – unibrow and all.
The cats themselves are also a tradition at PDQ Press. Currently in residence are WYSIWYG (a printing term for “What You See Is What You Get”) and Tiffany (a printer’s typeface). From day one, the cats have been rescued cats, acquired from a local shelter.
The cats live at the press and interact with employees and customers. “Tiffany’s pretty famous for sitting right on top of your paperwork,” explains PDQ owner Mark Pollak. “She’ll go away only if you give her some cat snack. It’s not because she loves us – she’s an opportunist.”
The PDQ Press 2005 Cat Calendar is available now by
